UVC Immersion Tube Lamps

Introduction-UVC Immersion Tube Lamps

Because they are completely water-tight, Universal UVC Immersion Tube Lamps are often described as immersion lamps or immersion emitters. We classify Universal UVC lamps in the hybrid systems category, as they can be used in disinfection applications in air and water. With immersion tube lamps, the UVC illuminant, is excited in a quartz glass sheathing tube so that they are isolated and disconnected from the ambient temperature by the air gap between the light tube with the fluorescent luminant and the sheath tube. Consequently, immersion tube systems can be used at cold air or water temperatures without experiencing any interruptions in output (E.G for surface disinfection of evaporator plates, in cool rooms and in air conditioning equipment at low air temperatures etc)

For all its immersion tube system, UV-Consulting Peschl adheres to the principle that the power supply unit is separate from the UVC lamps. If the power supply unit is connected physically to the immersion tube of the lamp then a significant fraction of the photons is directed at the power supply housing instead of being directed onto or into the medium to be disinfected. This means that a large amount of the UVC light is lost. This is prevented with a decentralised fitting of the power supply in a purpose designed terminal box. Moreover, possibility of malfunction is reduced and personal protection increased, as the choke coil (With TNN versions\) or the high frequency power supply unit is not exposed to the medium to be disinfected.

TNN immersion tube lamps are the classical versions of water-tight UVC lamps, manufactured exclusively by Heraeus Noblelight GmbH for UV-Consulting Peschl. The immersion tubes are solid mouldings with a starter in the sheathing tube. They are operated classically through a choke coil. The Deconta immersion tube system, DTS for short, is a consequence of further development of the TNN lamp and particularly distinguishes itself by the fact that the UVC luminant can be replaced without the need for tools.

Because of its robust industrial design, the system can be used equally well in harsh, day-to-day production line environment as well as the laboratory. As the thread of the stainless steel head section is not a fine thread, it is impervious to dirty environments and cannot fret under extreme conditions. A clever, positive connecting mechanism between the head section and the immersion tube ensures that the tube cannot be accidentally released from the head and cannot fall out through vibration or temperature change over time. Product safety is very important to us: In the head section of the DTSW system is an integral earthing screw for increased personal protection and safe operation.

Typical Applications:

  • Fitting between transport castors for the disinfection of transport/bins after cleaning but before re-use.
  • Surface disinfection of evaporator fins and heat exchangers. Because of the inevitable condensate formation, the air passed over the evaporator fins is unavoidably contaminated (Building technology)
  • Water disinfection in tanks and cisterns.
  • A complete component for fitting in water disinfection reactors.
  • Fitting between castors for surface disinfection
  • Water disinfection in the air scrubbers of air conditioning plant
  • Disinfection of blades in cutting equipment
  • Disinfection in sluices
  • Air disinfection in cool rooms and cold storage.
  • Disinfection of the insides of large packaging containers using DTS 50.
