UVC air disinfection systems are today used in industry, medicine, and research as well as in private and public installations. By using UVC air disinfection product and storage failures are minimised, germ spread is prevented, relief is afforded to people with asthma or allergies, laboratories are rendered microbiologically clean, isolation stations are verified and personal protection in hospitals is guaranteed. Consequently, UVC disinfection plays an important role in the fight against the alarming and growing threat imposed by nosocomial bacterial infections (hospital infections), such as those caused by antibiotic-resistant MRSA pathogens. Moreover, the use of UVC lamps in air conditioning and ventilation systems in public and private buildings, on ships or in hospitals is today standard technology (see VDI 6022) The number of installations is too great to record and continues to grow.
UVC lamps emitting at 253.7nm destroy air-borne micro-organisms such as viruses and bacteria reliably. Depending on the particular application, devices for direct disinfection (e.g. during the night), indirect systems with focused UV radiation or enclosed air circulating devices with combined particle filters are used. The use of high quality quartz glass high power UVC lamps and associated components in mature and successfully tested equipment offers care-free and economical operation at high efficiency. Amongst other things, we offer patented equipment which, for the first time, combine mechanical filtration with UV technology and so brings together two approved processes in one optimised solution.
The Sterisol- and Deconta-series have been used for many years globally and have defined the standards in terms of quality, function, power, and efficiency. In contrast to the low efficiency cathode lamps on the market, our devices operate exclusively with hot cathode emitters, which achieve a significantly higher UV radiation power and thus enable a higher device efficiency.
Direct UVC Air Disinfection
Ceiling emitters are predominantly used in rooms with high germ loading as equipment to provide “direct air disinfection” but “direct air disinfection” can also be built into product sluices and machines. “Direct air disinfection” operates exclusively at times when there is no personal occupancy and also serves to disinfect the illuminated surfaces. The Deconta 6010 has also been specially designed for homogenous workplace disinfection of laboratory tables and work benches. Because of the high UVC radiation and power, we recommend that rooms are protected with a contact switch on doors or motion detector (to switch off when activated) or relevant warning signs. UV-sensitive surface must be protected from direct radiation.
Indirect UVC Air Disinfection
“Indirect air disinfection” devices can be suspended or wall-mounted. The UVC light is arranged for zone radiation of the upper air space (upper air irradiation) and drastically reduces the air germ level. The germ-laden room air reaches the area of radiation of the zone radiation device by natural convection and micro-organisms are effectively destroyed. Devices for indirect air disinfection can be used in the presence of people, as long as a minimum fitting height (from the floor to the bottom of the device) of 2.40m is ensured. The steel cable suspension of the suspension fitting can be easily adjusted in a matter of seconds without tools. The devices can be connected in series via a quick release coupling and plugs so that there is no need for each device to have its own supply cable.
Air Circulation Systems In Combination Processes
The patented devices operate in the air circulation combination process. This consists of a high efficiency air disinfection system with multi-stage, mechanical particle filtration and a UVC zone for the reliable destruction of viruses, bacteria, yeasts and mildews. Through the combination of filtration and UVC technology, you can demonstrably reduce the number of germs, particles and health-endangering substances in the air. The high power UV radiation operates inside the device – there is no need for any safety measures to protect against UVC. The efficiency and effectiveness of the NQ devices has been tested and verified by Professor Dr. Syed A Sattar, Director of the Centre for Research on Environmental Microbiology (CREM), University of Ottawa, Canada.
